Posted on April 05 2017
Electronic-music concert Sónar, was no April Fool’s joke. The Barcelona festival, made its debut in Hong Kong on April 1 at the Hong Kong Science Park for a sweaty, dance-filled day.
Thousands of music fans, rave-lovers and people who just wanted to bask in glorious weather and beats showed up to enjoy Hong Kong’s premiere edition of Sónar. Artists included Evian Christ, Lady Leshurr, DJ Shadow, Gilles Peterson and Dave Clarke.
It wasn’t just all about the music. Sónar also promotes digital culture and visual arts through the Sónar+D series. This year featured booths and interactive centers to showcase the latest in tech startups and virtual reality. Audiovisual works by music innovators Dirty Electronics and Myriam Bleau on show, and there was a keynote speech and performance from Japanese new media artist and designer Daito Manabe.
The event was brought to you by the same promoters responsible for Clockenflap – Magenetic Asia, who are busy transforming Hong Kong into a city for diversified outdoor music concerts.
Stay tuned for next year’s dates and tickets!
