Exclusive Interview with Tink: the Chief Designer of Esemble

Q: Hello Tink! Could you tell us a little about your background?
T: Hi! I’m Tink. I’m the designer of Esemble, a handbag brand. I was born in Hong Kong and I grew up in China. I studied fashion design at Parsons in New York and now I’m in Hong Kong designing handbags.
Q: What’s the meaning behind Esemble?
T: So the word Esemble is actually a phonetic spelling of the word ‘assembly’. It means that a lot of little things make up the bigger things in life.
Q: What inspires you during the creative process?
T: What inspires me are the woman around us. In terms of design, I’m inspired by vintage items. I think vintage items are more unique compare to what we find nowadays so a lot of times I incorporate that in my own designs.
Q: What does it mean to you to be a ‘modern girl’?
T: A modern girl is someone who has a good work-life balance and she’s a go-getter. She really cares about the world. She loves travelling and learning about new things.

T: Nicole Richie, Rihanna, Scarlett Johansson.
Q: Which is your favorite Esemble product?
T: Two of my favorite bags right now, one of them is the Bell shoulder bag which is vintage inspired. The second one is the Dive bucket bag which is inspired by dry bag that you use for scuba diving.
Q: Can you describe Esemble in three words?
T: The three words to describe Esemble is light-hearted, effortless and modern classic.
