Meet the Radical Collection Fusing Form and Nature
Native Shoes enters the Supernatural this Fall/Winter 2016 season, introducing its most radical and comprehensive line of unisex silhouettes to date for humans in all climates to wander the elements.
True to its transformative nature, Native is propelling its “Future Classics” story by unveiling a wide collection of cold season styles, combining futuristic materials and classic styling. Look for the introduction of the water-resistant Hydro Collection, infused with a proprietary Defender Repellent System with Scotchgard™ as well the latest addition to the family: The Monaco.
Inspired by the avant-garde concepts that emerged from architectural firm Superstudio in 1960’s Italy, Native’s Supernatural story plays with textures, technology, prints, and colors which encompass the radically advanced thinkers of this cultural movement. Known for their design beliefs which used structures in the natural world to enhance the human experience, Superstudio’s concepts are brought to life in the modern age through new futuristic silhouettes.
Three new styles are introduced to FW16 which fill out the water-resistant Hydro Collection. Built on the Apollo platform (AP), each shoe features an ultra-light rubber outsole and the Defender Repellent System with Scotchgard™. The AP Apex draws inspiration from the classic hiking boot with metal eyelets, a padded collar for comfort, and breathable micro-perforations on a recycled Japanese nubuck. The AP Chukka Hydro follows the same design cues as the traditional Chukka, updated with a non-perforated three-ply upper for extra weather-resistance. Lastly, the AP Rover is constructed from a lightweight mesh with waterproof membrane, moleskin lining, and a 3D printed mudguard.
The Monaco Low and Monaco Mid are the collection’s definitive stars. The subtle design conceptualizes the brand’s idea of the supernatural, marrying geometric forms with the natural landscapes of everyday life. The silhouettes embody the design philosophy of the popular Apollo Moc, offering minimal stitching and no sew details. The styles also feature a muted rectangular eyelet motif, a super foam insole, and a water resistant coating.
Filling out this Supernatural selection, Native’s FW16 collection offers an impressive range of new prints and colorways such as oversized florals, an updated anthill camouflage, and warm earth tones with splashes of neon. New treatments include a hand-applied Bling and lustrous Galaxy Iridescent. Native Shoes’ Fall/Winter 2016 collection will be available at specialty retailers and at WOAW Store this Fall.
